What started off as an idea that sprouted from a few DJs turned into a party full of groovin. At a benefit gig for Sacred Leaf (a charity for The George Mark Children's House) at Smoke Tiki Lounge in San Jose in the summer of 2009 the whispers of an rumour that something might work started. Jose Padilla had spoken in one of the owner's shell like beforehand, and while at the benefit gig a few other DJs including myself figured it would be a great spot for an outdoor summer party. The next month, we had the decks outside, the sunshine on the crowd and the beats bouncing.

Held every week right up until the end of 2009, the gig is put together by 4 groups of DJs who each bring a different but harmonizing tilt on house music. New Year's Day 2010 arrives and with it the shuttering of the doors at Smoke Tiki Lounge, ready for its big remodeling job and probable rename. In the meantime Hazy will be taking a winter break and looking forward to returning to it's home soon.

The Hazy collective is made up of Lucas Rodenbush, Alonso Ordonez, Rick Preston, MJ Gamez, Harry Who?, Les Carter, Jose Padilla, Roger Moorehouse and J-Funk.
